My father, Christopher Staines, was the owner of the Free Winds in 1980 for three years. I dug up some photos of the boat when it was on dry dock in North Vancouver in Mosquito Creek and also when it was in Horseshoe Bay in the water.

In 1956 she was built in Vancouver BC by John Tom Taylor. 8.63m x 2.93m x 1.10m (28.3’ x 9.6’ x 3.6’) wooden hull 7.80gt 6.59rt She was powered by a 165bhp diesel engine.

In 1956–1963 she was owned by William Gaunt, Vancouver BC. In 1964 she was owned by Gaynel A. Lockstein (MO), New Westminster BC. In 1965–1968 she was owned by Benjamin Palmer, Prince Rupert BC. In 1969 she was owned by Denis Crane, Victoria BC. In 1970–1977 she was owned by Dennis Crane, Victoria BC. In 1977–1979 she was owned by Wood Spoke Enterprises Ltd., Vancouver BC. In 1980 she was owned by Christopher E. Staines, North Vancouver BC. In 1981–2014 she was owned by William A. Lord, West Vancouver BC. In 2016–2017 she was owned by William A. Lord, Sointula BC.
