| Bill Murphy (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook GRoup 16/01/2019) reportes that "In 1956 I owned a Registered Vessel G.V. Duchess Dale. This was a 20' Art Art Pilling Craft Boat Works Ltd. cruiser built in Vancouver and used as a Marine Taxi. This vessel carried a "Blue Book Registration" which consisted of a Certificate of British Registry detailing the Builder and exacting details of the Vessel as measured by the Steamship inspector ( yes I know this was a gasoline vessel and only 20 Feet in Length) had an Official Number carved into a bulkhead. In addition as we were an operating a marine service we had to renew our Coasting licence each year. Unfortunately in Spring of 1959 this vessel was destroyed by explosion and fire at Minstrel Island and declared a constructive total loss. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police acting for the Authorities in the remote area conducted a review of the Incident." |
