| Ken Lund (BC Nautical History Facebook Group 21/08/2015) reports that "As After Eight I understood it to be owned by the Wheaton family and so named after their eight children." Charles Namby Wynn Woodward was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on March 23, 1924. son of William C. Woodward, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia from 1941 to 1946, and grandson of Charles A. Woodward, the founder of the Woodward's department store chain, which was dissolved in 1993. Charles died in Vancouver, British Columbia on April 27, 1990. He described himself a a "merchant and cattle rancher". He was the principal owner of Woodward's Department Store chain and the Douglas Ranch. |
