| Drew Clarke (Email 15/05/2017 states that "this vessel was a traditional west coast wooden double decker lost in Barclay Sound during herring fishery blessed with a very good set, the Westisle quickly began calling for help on her corklines but everyone else had good sets too according to my eye witness source the fleet heard West Isle calling frantically for up to fifteen minutes before her set took her to the bottom for good. Her seine and pump were later "recovered" and could still be in use today. This vessel was sunk by her own good fortune It is speculated that this vessel was not "in a pool" and therefore did not have any partners to assist her." On March 8, 1984 this vessel capsized while in Ucluelet Inlet BC Canada. |
