Anecdotes
George Duddy (in BC Nautical History Facebook Group 03/11/2015 reports that " Jack Charles Jr has graciously updated me about the history of the building. The fibre glass vessel was built at Crescent Beach Marina but as stated in the registry by McQueen's. At 115 ft the vessel was too large for their Fraser River shop. This was before Charles started his own yacht building business at Crescent Beach. McQueen had previously built the 82 ft Hotei II at his Fraser River location. The fibre glass hull was built at Westport shipyard in Washington State and towed to Crescent Beach for completion. This vessel was launched in May 1986. Jack indicates this vessel was lengthened to 120 ft and under went a major refit in 2014. From other sources I learned that this vesselhad been charterd by Jimmie Pattison and played host to Prince Charles and Lady Diana as well as Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Yeltsin and Zsz Zsa Gabor."
