He was reported to have had First World War service. He was a commercial fisherman in British Columbia before World War Two. He was a principal in Don Peck & Co. Ltd., Cowichan Bay BC.

He was appointed as a Skipper Coxswain (Fishermen's Reserve) RCNR (With seniority dated 02/04/1942). He served in HMCS Ehkoli (In command). He served in HMCS Spray (In command). He served in HMCS Merry Chase (In command). He served in HMCS Burrard as Recruiting Officer. He served in HMCS Chatham for HMCS Moolock (In command) 1943. He served in HMCS Burrard as Recruiting Officer. (He was demobilized.)
