He was appointed as a Skipper Coxswain (Fishermen's Reserve Section) RCNR (With seniority dated 01/01/1943). In 1942 he was serving in HMCS Cancolim II (Fishermen's Reserve) (In command). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 10/02/1944). (He was demobilized.)
