In 1941 she was commisioned as a Corvette to the Royal Canadian Navy. In 1946 she was owned by Straits Towing Ltd., and Island Tug & Barge. In 1949 she was sold and converted to a salvage tug operating under her original name. In 1949 she was owned by Badwater Towing Co. Ltd., Vancouver BC. In 1956-1967 she was owned by Island Tug & Barge Ltd., Victoria BC.

Significance of Name
She carried 230 tons of fuel and could reach 16 knots. Her endurance was 3450 nm at 12 knots. She carried a complement of 7 officers and 85-90 other ranks. She was launched on 31/05/1941. She served in the Caribbean and on the New York to Guantanamo Bay Cuba convoys. In 1955 the Greek 8200 ton freighter Makedonia was rescued in the longest (3000 miles) tow to Vancouver BC. On October 22, 1963 while towing the barge Island Maple it broke in half and sank in Juan de Fuca Strait.
