Anecdotes
She was a sister ship to the Franklin.She was a Canadian Coast Guard Arctic Class III Icebreaker which, in 1978, made a West to East Transit of the Northwest Passage under her Master, Captain P. Toomey. This was the maiden voyage. In 1980 she made a partial transit of the Northwest Passage while accompanying the Irving Arctic and the Irving Birch into the Arctic Islands from the Atlantic Ocean and return. In 1990 under the command of Captain P. Toomey she completed a partial transit of the Northwest Passage westward to accompany the USCGC Polar Sea through Lancaster Sound, Peel Sound, Demarcation Point and return.
