Significance of Name
In 1988 she was owned by Canadian Coast Guard. She was a Canadian Coast Guard Icebreaker skippered by Captain S. Gomes in 1988 in a West to East Transit of the Northwest Passage. In 1990 she made a partial transit of the Northwest Passage, under command of Captain S. Gomes and Captain B. MacQuarrie, westward through Lancaster Sound, Victoria Strait to Demarcation Point and return. In 1991 under the commanded of Captain S. Gomes she completed a partial transit of the Northwest Passage westward through Peel Sound, Victoria Strait to the Beaufort Sea. In 2004 she was based at St. John's NF.
