In 1915 this vessel was laid up at anchor at Mill Bay BC while the MacFarlane brothers served in the army and navy during the First World War. A photograph of her during the First World War shows her astern of H.M.C.S. Naden in Wheelbarrow Cove near Mill Bay. During this time this vessel was looked after by the brothers' teenage sister, Eva MacFarlane. Eva would visit the tug regularly to see that it was pumped out and not in danger of sinking. On one visit Eva discovered one of her neighbours removing the propeller. He explaied that he was removing it for safekeeping. This vessel ordered him to leave it at her place where, when it was dropped off, this vesselkept it under her bed for the duration of the War. On August 13, 1931 this vessel foundered sank in South Bentinck Channel BC. |
