Significance of Name The name comes from the main device of the Ship's Badge for HMCS Hunter.
 
Anecdotes
Crossbow (PB-197) was a tender to, at various times, HMCS Hunter, HMCS Prevost, HMCS York HMCS Cataraqui running from 1969 to 1995. Note: There has been past confusion about the post navy service of this vessel. this vessel was earlier reported as being renamed Big Steel (built at Russel-Hipwell Engines Ltd. In 1954) but this was in error. This vessel is now the Crossbow 197. In 2017 this vessel was for sale in Toronto ON for C$225,000.
