In 1918 she was a a wooden US Navy sub-chaser. She was sold 4 February 1922 to M. Chechik of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. In 1922-1924 she was owned by Coal Harbour Wharf and Trading Company, Limited, Vancouver, B.C. In 1923 she was operated by the Vancouver Courtenay Transportation Co. Ltd. As a tug. In 1930 she was owned by Vancouver Barge Transportation Co. Ltd., Vancouver BC. In 1939 she was owned by the Vancouver Tug Boat Co. Ltd. In 1941-1945 she was owned by Vancouver Barge & Transportation Co Ltd., Vancouver BC. In 1949-1958 she was owned by Vancouver Barge & Transportation Co Ltd., Vancouver BC. This vessel is listed as an 'early' rum runner. This vessel is reported to have returned to legitimate trade by August 1924. (Miles, Fraser (1992)). This vessel went ashore on Cape Lazo BC and was refloated by the Pacific Salvage Co. salvage barge Giant. On 14/04/1962 this vessel was scuttled in Indian Arm, Burrard Inlet BC. The Subchaser Archives also report that "SC 310 served in Alaskan waters, during and after the war. A short New York Times article dated 21 June 1919 reports the following: "Juneau, Alaska, June 21. - Submarine Chaser SC 310 was ordered by Governor Thomas Riggs, Jr., to the vicinity of Yukutat Village to quell a reported native uprising today..." |
