This vessel was built specifically for "expedition cruising," to take small groups of adventurous travelers to remote or inaccessible places. In 1984 under command of Hasse Nilsson, Master, the Bahamian-registered passenger cruise vessel transited on an East to West Transit of the Northwest Passage. this represented the first transit by a passenger vessel. this vessel was renamed as the Society Explorer, as a Bahamian-registered passenger cruise ship. In 1988 under her master, Heinz Aye, this vesselmade a West to East Transit of the Northwest Passage. this vessel was afloat in 2004. |
