In 1944 she was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Navy at Esquimalt BC. She transferred to Halifxand left for Bermuda for workups. In September she arrived in St. John's Newfoundland and assigned to Atlantic convoy duty. She spent the rest of the war on convoy duty. In 1945 she transferred back to the West Coast for "tropicalization". After VJ-Day she was transferred into the reserve at the end of the year. In 1947 she was sold to ship brokers who sold her on in 1948 to the Government of India for conversion to a pilot vessel for the Hoghly River Pilots. In 1950 she was renamed as Bengal. The ship was renamed P.V. Bengal in 1956 and was broken up in India in 1965.

Anecdotes
At the end of the Second World War she was laid up in the ship boneyard at Bedwell Bay in Indian Arm BC. In 1965 she was broken up in India.
