Bill McKay (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 20/03/2020) stated that "the "first" Seaspan Challenger was a former US Army TP-class wooden tug. Formerly the 'Island Challenger'. had a 765hp D-398 12cyl Cat in her...after the 450bhp Fairbanks-Morse diesel came out in the 70's. this vessel was broken up in Alaska a few years ago."
