She was a small motor launch purchased by the the Reverend Walter Field Rushbrook with funds donated by the Navvy Society for service among men constructing the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. She was not powerful enough to meet the currents so she was replaced in 1912 by the Northern Cross.
