Anecdotes
On January 15, 1930 this vessel was lost wth all hands in the Georgia Strait while towing a barge from Bellingham WA to Vancouver BC. Part of the wheelhouse was washed ashore on Stewart Island WA and the barge itself landed on Saturna Island. James Newton (grandson of Captain Isaac E. Breese (Email to Nauticapedia 13/01/2021) stated "What my family knew was the Farquhar was towing a scow from Washington to Vancouver through stormy conditions when it started taking on water which was figured to have hit the boiler. this caused an explosion of some sort. A few pieces of the tugs wheelhouse turned up around saturna island along with the barge that it was towing but all the crew was lost at sea."
