Anecdotes
This vessel was launched on 10/09/1941. This vessel carried 230 tons of fuel and could reach 16 knots. Her endurance was 3450nm at 12 knots. On September 11, 1942 this vessel was torpedoed and sunk by U-517 near Cape Chat PQ. This vessel had been returning to base with the minesweeper HMCS Clayoquot after escorting convoy SQ-35 and was not zigzagging. this vessel was struck aft by two torpedoes. This vessel went down fast and though most of her crew got off the ship, some died in the water when her depth charges went off as this vessel sank. Her captain, Lieutenant-Commander John W. Bonner, RCNR and 8 other crew were killed out of her crew of 64. The survivors were picked up by HMCS Clayoquot.
