Military Service
He enrolled Canadian Army Reserve 04/1951. Canadian Officers Training Corps at University of Western Ontario 1951. Transferred to Canadian Army Supplementary Reserve with Royal Canadian Armoured Corps 1953. (Transferred to Naval Reserve) He was appointed as an A/Surgeon Sub-Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/06/1954). He served in HMCS Prevost (UNTD Training Division Western Ontario) for Medical Internship 1954-1956. (Transferred to RCN 01/1956) He was appointed as a Surgeon Sub-Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1956). He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1957). In 1957 he served at Victoria Hospital London Ont for Internship training. In 1958 he served in HMCS Naden for RCN Hospital Esquimalt as Medical Officer. In 1960 he served in HMCS Ste. Therese as Squadron Medical Officer. In 1960 he served in HMCS Beacon Hill as Squadron Medical Officer. In 1960 he served in HMCS Sussexvale as Squadron Medical Officer. He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/07/1961). He served in USN Naval Weapons Plant for USN Diving Medicine Course 1961. In 1962 he served in HMCS Naden for RCN Hospital Esquimalt as Medical Officer. In 1964 he served in HMCS Shearwater as Principal Medical Officer and as Staff Flight Surgeon of Regional Surgeon Atlantic Medical Region. In 1966 he served in Canadian Forces Institute of Aviation Medicine Toronto as OiC RCN Personnel Research Unit. In 1968 he served at the University of Pennsylvania for post graduate studies in Hyperbaric Medicine. In 1970 he served at the Canadian Forces Institute of Environmental Medicine Toronto, Clearance Diving Trials and Development Unit as Deputy Officer Commanding Operational Medical Establishment and Medical Officer. He was appointed as a Surgeon Commander (With seniority dated 01/08/1971). In 1971 he served at Headquarters Air Defence Command North Bay as Command Surgeon. In 1975 he served at Headquarters Canadian Contingent Middle East Egypt as Commanding Officer Medical and Dental Branch. In 1975 he served in MARCOMHQ as Senior Staff Officer Medical. He was appointed as a Surgeon Captain (With seniority dated 01/04/1976). In 1976 he served at Air Command Headquarters Winnipeg as Command Surgeon. In 1979 he served at NDHQ Surgeon-General as Director Medical Staffing and Training . He was appointed as a Surgeon Commodore (With seniority dated 01/07/1982). In 1982 he served in NDHQ as Deputy Surgeon General and Commandant National Defence Medical Centre. He was appointed as a Surgeon Rear-Admiral (With seniority dated 01/01/1988). In 1988 he served in NDHQ as Surgeon General Canadian Armed Forces. (He was retired 11/04/1991). (He was retired 1989.) (He was qualified as a flight surgeon.)
