Military Service
He served in the artillery for Canadian Expeditionary Force. (Transferred to RNAS 1917) He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant RNAS.

Anecdotes
He did artillery service at Vimy Ridge and Hill 70. He flew DeHavilland DH4s with 202 Squadron. He was attacked and downed during a bomb raid. His Observer, 2Lt. W.H.L. Halford, was also lost.
