In 1919 he joined the Boys Naval Brigade and became an instructor until 1926. He apprenticed at the Steel Co. of Canada, Hamilton ON. He worked at Milton Machine and Tool Foundry. |

He was appointed as a Stoker (2nd class) RCNVR 1926. (Transferred to the RCN) He was appointed as an A/ERA (4th class) RCN. He served in hMCS Thiepval for Training. In 1927 he served in HMCS Patrician. He served in HMS Colombo for Training. In 1928 he served in HMCS Vancouver. He was appointed as an ERA (3rd class) RCN. In 1929 he served in HMCS Armentieres. He served in HMCS Skeena. In 1934 he served in HMCS Armentieres. In 1938 he was promoted to Chief ERA. In 1938 he served in HMCS Restigouche. (CFR 1942). He was appointed as an A/Warrant Engineer RCN (With seniority dated 22/07/1942). He served in HMCS Avalon on Staff of Chief Engineer Newfoundland Command 1942. He was appointed as a Warrant Engineer RCN (With seniority dated 22/07/1942). He was appointed as a Commissioned Engineer RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1944). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (E) RCN (With seniority dated 01/07/1948). He served in HMCS Ontario in Engineering Department 1947. He served in HMCS Rockcliffe in Engineering Department. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (E) RCN (With seniority dated 26/02/1955). He served in Mechanical Training Establishment as Senior Engineer. He served in NTS as Senior Engineer. (He was retired in 1962.) |
