Biography
He was a reporter and journalist before the Second World War. After his naval service he was an Editor of the Victoria Daily Colonist newspaper.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 03/09/1939). He served in H.M.S. King Alfred for Training. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 03/09/1939) (Later backdated to 03/03/1938). He served in HMCS Stonecrop as Executive Officer 1941. He served in HMC LCI (L)-263 (In command) in 262nd Canadian LCI Flotilla for Operation Neptune 1944. He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant-Commander (Temp.) RCNVR. He served in HMCS Chambly (In command) 1945. (He was demobilized 04/01/1946.) He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN(R) (With seniority dated 26/12/1946). (He was released.) (He was fully qualified as a reserve officer.). (He was qualified for combined operations duties.) (He was qualified with a Watchkeeping Certificate.)
