He lived and was educated at Oak Lake MB. He went on to St.John's Collegiate (Winnipeg) and Jarvis Street Collegiate Institute (Toronto) and attended University of Toronto (Applied Science), 1913-1915. |

He served in HMCS Niobe with the RNCVR, December 1915. (CFR). He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 03/02/1916) in Ottawa ON. He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 03/02/1916). He served in #3 (Naval) Wing at Luxeuil and Nancy 1916. He served in #10 (Naval) Squadron 04/1917. He was appointed as a Flight Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 30/06/1917). He was appointed as a Flight Commander RNAS (With seniority dated 09/07/1917). |

He had 8 victories in the First World War including 3 destroyed. He was reported a missing-in-action after being shot down on 22/07/1917. Flying 10 Naval Sqdr. Sopwith Triplane, ‘Black Death’, he met a formation of Albatross. His aircraft was observed falling apart, assumed to have been hit by anti-aircraft shells. |
