He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1921 with a BA. He worked as an actuary, first for the Travelers Insurance Co. in Hartford, Connecticut and then for the Peoria Insurance Co. |
Military Service |

He was appointed as a Fourth Class Wireless Telegraph Operator RNCVR (With seniority dated 09/05/1917). In 1917 he served in HMCS Cartier (Auxiliary Patrol Ship) as Wireless Telegraph Operator. (At the time of the explosion this ship was located off HMC Dockyard Pier 3. Russell was working in HMCS Cartier in the harbour and was assigned to help look for survivors in the water.) (He was demobilized.) |
