He served in the British Merchant Navy with the British India Steam Navigation Co. 1947-1951. After retirement he worked with the Coast Guard Fleet Aviation Office in Coastguard (Marine) Emergencies Office 1975, the Department of Transport as Civil Aviation Inspector (Ottawa) 1982, the Canadian War Museum 1974-1975, and in Real Estate Sales 1975-1993. |

He served in RAF Horsham St. Faith for 74 RAF Squadron 1953-4, (Transferred to RCAF 1954), He was appointed as a Flight Cadet (SSA) RCAF 1954. He served in RCAF London ON for Basic Training 1954. He served in HMCS Stadacona for Junior Officer's Leadership and Technical Courses 1963. He served in HMCS Athabaskan 1963, (Selected for Permanent Commission). He served in HMCS Shearwater/ HMCS Bonaventure for VS-880 Squadron as Operational Pilot 1965. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/07/1966).
