Anecdotes |
---|
Bill Clearihue reports that "He entered RMC in the Fall of 1948 (RMC # 2834) and on April 30, 1949, just prior to 1st year summer training, was logged into the Cdn Navy List as a Naval Cadet RCN(R), attached to HMCS Cataraqui. This was the common case for all Naval Cadets at that time, including those at Royal Roads, who were similarly attached to Malahat. This was in anticipation of their assimilation into the UNTD program in the summer of 1949, for pay, admin and training purposes, the UNTDs themselves, some 800 strong, having just been elevated to Officer Cadet status. This co-existence was to last for a number of training summers, until the introduction of the ROTP program." He was part of the first class at the Royal Military College after WWII, graduating with a BA in 1952. |
