He was a clerk at the time of his recruitment into the navy.

H ewas appointed as a Chief Writer RNCVR. (CFR). He was appointed as an A/Warrant Writer RNCVR (With seniority dated 01/05/1918). He served in HMCS Lansdowne 1918. (Transferred to RCN). He was appointed as an A/Warrant Writer RCN (With seniority dated 01/04/1929). He served in HMCS Stadacona 1930. He was appointed as a Commissioned Writer RCN (With seniority dated 01/05/1939). He served in RCN Barracks Esquimalt 1938. He served in HMCS Venture. He served in HMCS Givenchy. He served in HMCS Naden for RCN Barracks Esquimalt 1942. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (S) RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1945). He served in HMCS Naden. (He was demobilized.)
