After the Second World War he operated an automobile franchise.

He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RCNVR 1939. He served in the Toronto Division of the RCNVR 1939. He served in HMCS Beaver. He served in HMCS St. Croix. He served in HMCS Lethbridge. He served in HMCS Summerside. (CFR) He was appointed as a Probationary Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR 1943. He served in HMCS Kings (Officer Training Establishment) 1943. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 21/06/1944). He served in HMCS Outremont 1944. He served in HMCS Summerside 1945. (He was demobilized.) (Short Service Appointment commencing 03/01/1953). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 03/01/1953). He served in HMCS Discovery as Staff Officer (Administration). (He was released.) He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN(R). He served in HMCS Discovery as Executive Officer of the UBC-UNTD Tender. He served in HMCS Discovery as Executive Officer. He was appointed as a Commander RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/01/1964). In 1964 he served in HMCS Discovery as Commanding Officer. (He was released.) (He was qualified with a Watchkeeping Certificate.)
