He was an engineer at the time of his recruitment into the navy. In 1939 he purchased Cape Cod Shipbuilding Co., Wareham MA USA. |

He was appointed as a Leading Seaman RNCVR. In 1917 he served in Royal Navy Barracks Portsmouth for Training. In 1917 he served in HMS Strathlocky (minesweeper) for Training. In 1917 he served in HMS Victory for Training. He was appointed as a Petty Officer RNCVR 1917. In 1917 he served in HMS Vivid (Depot ship) for HMS Cormorant (Gibraltar). In 1917 he served in HMC Cd-69 as Second Engineer. In 1918 he serevd in the Azores and then back to Gibraltar. In 1919 he served in HMS vivid for RMS Baltic for transit home. (He was released 21/04/1919). |
