Biography
He served as a Sea Cadet in the Fort William Sea Cadet Corps. He graduated with a BA (Econ) Queens University 1951. He hraduated with a MA (Econ) Harvard 1952. After his naval service he earned a Doctorate in Economics and later worked as an economist for the Bank of Canada. He had a part time teaching position at Queen's University and at the Royal Military College of Canada.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RCNVR. (He had Second World War service). He served in HMCS Iroquois. In 1945 he served in HMCS Border Cities. (He was demobilized.) He was appointed as an Officer Cadet RCN. He served in Royal Roads (RCNC). He was appointed as a Midshipman RCN (With seniority dated 07/1945). (Transferred to RCNR). He was appointed as a Midshipman RCN(R) (With seniority dated 07/1945). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/03/1947). He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 05/03/1948). He served in HMCS Cataraqui 1948. (He was released 1952). (Rejoined 1959) He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/08/1959). He was appointed as a Commander RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/01/1964). In 1964 he served as Commanding Officer UNTD at HMCS Carleton. (He was qualified with a Watch Keeping certificate.)
