Biography
After his retirement from the Canadian Forces he resumed flying in commercial helicopters in February 2008 for Offshore Oil and Gas at St. John's NL, Halifax, Tuktoyaktuk NT, Barrow AK and Darwin, Australia. He retired again in September 2018.
 
Military Service
In 1969 he was appointed as a Private (AR) in the Army Reserve. He served 1969-1974 in 4 PPCLI as an Infantryman. (CF) He entered OCTP in 1974 as an Air Navigator. He was posted to HS423 Sqn 1976-1980; HMCS Ottawa, HMCS Preserver, HMCS Assiniboine, HMCS Algonquin and HMCS Athabaskan). He served as Detachment TACCO and Ship's Diving Officer in HMCS Assiniboine and HMCS Athabaskan. He cross-trained to Pilot 1980-1981 (CFB Portage and CFB Moose Jaw). He was posted to VP 407 Sqn 1981-1985 on CP-140 (P-3) Aurora - Line Crew Commander. He was posted to CFB Greenwood: VP 404 Sqn 1985-1989 as Pilot Instructor and served as Senior Flight Deck Sim O & Senior Flight Deck Instructor. He was promoted to Major in January 1988. He was posted to MAGHQ 1989-1992 as Marime Aircrew Standards Team (Plt). He was posted to 14 Wing (CFB Greenwood) Base Operations as Chief Operations Officer. He was posted to 423 MH Sqn 1993 as Sea King Pilot and Detachment Commander in HMCS Fraser, HMCS Nipigon, HMCS Halifax and HMCS Fredericton (NATO Deployment to Adriatic Sea Nov 1995-Apr 1996). He was posted to 406 Squadron 1996-1999 as Pilot Training Flight Commander. He was posted to 1 Cdn Air Div (Shearwater Det) as OC MH Standards & Evaluation Team (MHSET - formerly MAG RW MAST). He was posted to 12 Wing HQ (Shearwater) as Wing Flight Safety Officer (conducted two accident investigations on behalf of DFS. He retired from military Dec 2007 after 38 yrs service.
