Biography
After his naval service he was an avid sailor, he was Commodore of the Halifax Squadron of the RCNSA, and of the Britannia Yacht Club in Ottawa ON. He was formerly Vice-President of the Canadian Yachting Association where he developed their program of sail training standards.

He was appointed as an A/Probationary Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR 1942. He served in HMCS Naden on Reserve Strength 1942. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/08/1943). He served in HMCS Chippawa (Winnipeg) as New Entry Divisional Officer 1943. He served in HMCS Kings (Officer Training Establishment) in (NN) Division 1943. He served in HMC ML-051. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/08/1944). He served in HMC ML-102 as Executive Officer. He served in MTB service in UK and Ostend as Navigating Officer. (Transferred to RCN) 1945. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/02/1945). He served in HMCS Glace Bay 1945. He served in the Reserve Fleet Halifax. He served in HMS Middlesex as Executive Officer. He served in H.M.S. Bermuda on the China Station. He served on the Staff of FOAC Operations Staff as Watchkeeper. He served in H.M.S. Vernon (Portsmouth) for Long TAS Course. He served in HMCS Stadacona for TAS School (Weapons Section). He served in HMCS Naden for TAS Training Centre (Weapons and Sonar Sections). He served in HMCS Stadacona for Junior Officer's Technical and Leadership Course. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/02/53). He served in HMCS Magnificent as TAS and Operations Officer. He served in HMCS Stadacona on FOAC Staff as Staff Officer (TAS)). He served in NHQ as Staff Officer (Weapons) in Directorate of TAS Warfare 1956. He served in HMCS New Waterford (In command) 1958. He served in HMCS Beacon Hill (In command) for UNTD Sea Training 1958. He served in Joint Maritime Warfare School (Halifax) as Senior Instructor (School). He was appointed as a Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1961). He served in HMCS Stadacona as Officer Training Officer in the Fleet School. He served in HMCS Stadacona as Officer-in-Charge Weapons Training Division in the Fleet School. He served in HMCS Assiniboine (II) (In command) 1963. He served on the Joint Services Staff Course (Latimer UK)). He served in NHQ in Operational Requirements Division (Weapons Section)). He served in NHQ in Directorate of Personnel (Men's Training). (He resigned on 01/01/1972 and was released on 01/09/1972). (He was qualified with a Watchkeeping Certificate and as a TAS Officer. He was the first Canadian winner of the Royal Navy's Ogilvy Medal 1948. He was qualified to command a frigate or destroyer.)
