Military Service
He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (SB) (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 17/08/1940). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (SB) (Temp.) RCNVR 9With seniority dated 17/08/1941). He was appointed as a Electrical Lieutenant (R) (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 17/08/1941). He was appointed as an A/Electrical Lieutenant-Commander (R) (Temp.) (WHA) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/01/1941). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (SB) (Radar) (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 17/08/1942). In 1944 he served in H.M.S. Hermione as Radar Officer. He served in H.M.S. Anson as Advisor on Radar to Allied Naval Commander Expeditionary Force. (He was demobilized 19/11/1945.) He was awarded the MBE "For gallantry or outstanding service in the face of the enemy or for zeal, patience and cheerfulness in dangerous waters and for setting an example of wholehearted devotion to duty, upholding the high traditions of the Royal Canadian Navy."
