He was working as an accountant at the time of enlistment. On 17/05/1915 he was in training at the Canadian Aviation Co. Ltd. in Toronto ON. |
Military Service |

He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 08/11/1915). He trained at the Curtiss Flying School. He sailed from New York on the Finlandia on 30/11/1915. He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS. He was under training at the Central Flying School at Grain Island 27/12/1915. He was attached to #2 Wing RNAS 04/09/1916 in the Eastern Mediterranean doing anti-submarine and reconnaisance patrols and harrasing enemy country within reach of the coast. He was wounded in action on 30/11/1916 with a gunshot wound in the right leg. On 05/03/1917 he was attached to the HQ Eastern Mediterranean. He was appointed as a Flight Lieutenant RNAS (With seniority dated 04/06/1917). He served in No. 2 Wing was attached to H.M.S. Ark Royal on 01/10/1917. On 23/06/1918 he was attached to #62 Wing on offensive patrols in the Western Theatre. He was attached to #63 Wing in Mesopotamia in the advance on Mosul bombing and ground strafing to 16/11/1918. (He was demobilized.) |
