He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 1952). In 1952-1955 he served in HMCS Donnacona for UNTD. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/05/1955). He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/05/1957). In 1957-1960 he served in HMCS Donnacona. (He was released.)
