The Capco 200 (#192513) Tank Barge
Our Victoria Waterfront Correspondent, Murray Polson, met the owner of the tank barge Capco 200 while he was at the pier in the Outer Harbour. The owner said that he had used the barge to collect the waste water (black water and grey water) from the aircraft carriers when they anchored outside Victoria Harbour. The aircraft carriers haven't been coming frequently enough to warrant keeping the barge. The barge was waiting to be towed to a scrap yard near the Patullo Bridge (New Westminster BC) on the Fraser River. The Capco 200 was built in 1943 by Kyle & Co. Inc., Stockton California USA as the Browns 301. (54m x 8.29m x 3.93m steel hull 519gt. 512rt.) In 2012 she is owned by Capilano Coastal Services Ltd., Victoria BC. In 2009 she was laid up in Becher Bay BC.
